
Media baron Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, head of ETV Network and Ramoji Film City, passed away on Saturday morning in Telangana’s Hyderabad at the age of 87. He was the chairman of the Eenadu Group and was undergoing treatment when he took his last breath at the city’s Star Hospital at 3.45 am.
Rao was rushed to hospital on June 5, after he suffered high blood pressure and breathlessness. Following the surgery, he was put on ventilator support and passed away when his health deteriorated.
His mortal remains were shifted to his residence at Ramoji Film City. Several prominent political leaders and film personalities are expected to pay their last respects to the Padma Vibhushan awardee.
A few years ago, he had successfully recovered from colon cancer.
