The Supreme court, on Tuesday, reprimanded Patanjali Ayurveda for “false and misleading advertisements” after a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association against false claims made on modern medicine.
“All such false and misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurved have to stop immediately. The Court will take any such infraction very seriously, and the Court will also consider imposing costs to the extent of Rs. 1 crores on every product regarding which a false claim is made that it can cure a particular disease,” said the court (quoted by India Today).
Taking a swipe to this, Baba Ramdev addressed a press conference in which he expressed his opinion the order passed by Supreme court confidently.
“We respect the Supreme Court, and we will not have any objection if it imposes a fine of crores on us or even gives us a punishment to Fossey if we make false advertisements or propaganda. But we are not spreading false propaganda. We have freed lakhs of people from diseases through integrated treatment of Yoga-Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Panchakarma, Shatkarma, hundreds of therapies, fasting and worship methods,” he said.
He also lashed out at practitioners of allopathy by saying: “Some stubborn, stubborn and so-called frustrated doctors of the medical sector who oppose Yoga, Ayurveda and Naturopathy have a big problem. It is true that synthetic medicines can control diseases, but cannot cure them. But this problem of allopathy is not a problem for Yoga-Ayurveda.”

Further he added: “Also, the advance treatment from allopathy, which we have received from Maharishi Charak, Maharishi Sushruta and Maharishi Dhanvantari, Patanjali of Vedas and Ayurveda, we are taking it forward scientifically and authentically, not for the sake of business, but in the spirit of treatment and beneficence and will continue to do so. . If necessary, we are ready to present all the facts and evidence before the court and media.”
