Union Home Minister Amit Shah mourns the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. In a heartfelt tweet, Amit Shah acknowledged Dr. Singh’s immense contribution to India’s governance through various roles, including as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, the Finance Minister, and the Prime Minister.

Amit Shah tweeted:
“The news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is extremely sad. From being the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India to the Finance Minister of the country and as the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh played an important role in the governance of the country. I express my condolences to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. May Waheguru grant peace to his soul and give strength to his family to bear this grief.”

He also expressed his grief in Hindi, highlighting Dr. Singh’s key roles and extending prayers for his soul:
“पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह जी के निधन की सूचना अत्यंत दुःखद है। भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक में गवर्नर से लेकर देश के वित्त मंत्री और प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह जी ने देश की शासन व्यवस्था में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। दुःख की इस घड़ी में उनके परिजनों व समर्थकों के प्रति संवेदना व्यक्त करता हूँ। वाहेगुरु जी उनकी आत्मा को सद्गति प्रदान करें और उनके परिवारजनों को यह दुःख सहने की शक्ति दें।”

Press Release on Dr. Singh’s Demise
The press release stated, “With profound grief, we inform the demise of Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had a sudden loss of consciousness at home on 26th December 2024. Resuscitative measures were started immediately at home. He was brought to the Medical Emergency at AIIMS, New Delhi at 8:06 PM. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 PM.”
