SVANidhi scheme will help street vendors to start afresh after COVID-19 lockdown, says PM Narendra Modi

In a video conferencing named ‘Svanidhi Samvad’ held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interact with street vendors from Madhya Pradesh, he congratulated Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chauhan for their efforts in ensuring that the benefits of Swanidhi scheme reached more than 1 lakh street vendors in Madhya Pradesh

In a video conferencing named ‘Svanidhi Samvad’ held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interact with street vendors from Madhya Pradesh, he congratulated Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chauhan for their efforts in ensuring that the benefits of Swanidhi scheme reached more than 1 lakh street vendors in Madhya Pradesh in just 2 months, according to ANI.

He also said that the ‘Svanidhi Samvad’ scheme will help the vendors to start afresh after their businesses have been hugely impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown.

He also added that the scheme has helped the hawkers to gain an identity who were earlier not accounted officially and said that the government is working to ensure that they receive the benefits of other schemes of the central government as well.

The scheme which was announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in May is intended to help vendors resume their livelihood for which loans will be provided up to Rs. 10,000 to over  50 lakh street vendors across the country. The scheme is valid until March 2022.
