Protests have erupted across India against the three farm bills brought in by the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party. All three bills have created an uproar amongst farmers & opposition.
Taking into the notice of several proposed protests and demonstrations tomorrow, Section 144 has been imposed in 300 radius area of the state Assembly in Dehradun, said Dehradun district magistrate.
Eight opposition MPs were suspended for creating an uproar in Rajya Sabha when the Bill was passed and leaders of opposition parties have condemned the action calling it ‘Death of Democracy’
Congress has set a target of collecting signatures of two crore farmers and handing them over to the President on November 14, Nehru Jayanti. It has declared these bills as “anti-farmer”. The party also announced that it will take to the streets and launch a mass movement across the country from September 24 to demand the withdrawal of the agriculture Bills.
Today, in a matter of three and half hours Rajya Sabha passed seven key bills including one that removes cereals, pulses and onion from the essential commodities list and another that abolishes penalty for certain offences by companies.
The Congress, Left parties, the TMC, the Samajwadi Party and the NCP decided to boycott House proceedings in protest against the suspension of eight MPs for the remainder of the session for unruly behaviour.
