Following a week after the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government launched the proposed draft bill on population control, Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena leader stated that his party will wait and analyze the effect of the bill in UP and then consider it for debate at the national level.
Sanjay Raut commented, “We will first wait and analyze the effects of Population Control Bill in Uttar Pradesh then discuss or debate at the national level.” He further expressed that the bill shouldn’t be introduced just because the elections are near. ‘Overpopulation in UP and Bihar affects other states also, added the Shiv Sena leader.
In the past Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath bring forth a population policy that looks forward in stabilizing the state’s population and minimizing maternal and infant deaths. In accordance to the policy, people who will have more than two children will be prohibited from contesting local body election. Further, they will also be excluded from receiving any kind of subsidy and government jobs.
Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Assam government also proposed to establish a policy in this regard. The opposition parties hit the state government on the proposal claiming it as ‘election propaganda’. The UP government too witnessed attack from the congress and SP over the proposal of the bill.
According to reports, earlier in the past year, Shiv Sena MP Anil Desai too proposed to amend Article 47A of the constitution, to include provisions quite similar to the one in chief minister Adityanath’s draft bill.
