
Rs. 100 Crore Corruption Matter: Former Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh and his associates, Sanjeev Palande and Kundan Shinde had filed a petition seeking default bail from the special CBI court. The matter is scheduled to be heard in court tomorrow.
The CBI had filed a charge sheet against Anil Deshmukh and his associates in connection to their probe into the Rs. 100 crore bribery allegations. These allegations were levelled by the former Mumbai police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against him.
Sachin Vaze, who is a dismissed police officer turned approver and sought pardon in the case. Lest, claimed in his application that. After having co-operated with the CBI before and after his arrest, his confessional statement was recorded before a Magistrate under provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (crPC)
Deshmukh and his personal staff members have been booked under IPC sections. Which are related to criminal Conspiracy and section of Prevention of Corruption Act. Thus, for “attempt to obtain undue advantage for improper and dishonest performance of public duty”.
In latest updates, Anil Deshmukh who is currently in Judicial custody. Furthermore, approached the Supreme Court challenging the Bombay High Court order. Which had rejected his and Nawab Malik’s (former Cabinet Minister) plea to vote at the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) polls. Since they are taking place today.
Earlier, a special PMLA court in Mumbai also happened to have rejected their pleas. Hence, seeking a day’s bail to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections.
Therefore, Anil Deshmukh remains in custody.
