Rajiv Kumar named next Chief Election Commissioner by President Kovind

Rajiv Kumar, Senior Election Commissioner was today appointed as the next chief election commissioner by His Excellency President Ram Nath Kovind of the Republic of India.

Rajiv Kumar, Senior Election Commissioner was today appointed as the next chief election commissioner by His Excellency President Ram Nath Kovind of the Republic of India. Shree Rajiv Kumar took charge as Election Commissioner in ECI on 1st September 2020. Before assuming charge in Election Commission he was the Chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board. After which he joined as Chairman PESB in April 2020. Also, he is an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of Bihar/Jharkhand cadre 1984 batch. Who was superannuated from the Indian Administrative Service in February 2020.

He will be assuming charge as the official incumbent in charge on May 15. However, Sushil Chandra will demit office on May 14 in issuance to the notification issued by the Law Ministry said.
