In a significant administrative reshuffle, the President of India has approved several new appointments and transfers of Governors and Lieutenant Governors across multiple states and Union Territories.
According to the announcement, Vinai Kumar Saxena, who has been serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Meanwhile, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, former Indian ambassador to the United States, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Several other gubernatorial transfers and appointments have also been announced as part of the reshuffle.
Shiv Pratap Shukla, who currently serves as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. In another transfer, Jishnu Dev Varma, the Governor of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
The Centre has also appointed Nand Kishore Yadav as the Governor of Nagaland.
In Bihar, Lt. General (Retired) Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed as the new Governor of Bihar.
Further changes include R.N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, being appointed as the Governor of West Bengal.
Meanwhile, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who is currently the Governor of Kerala, will discharge the functions of the Governor of Tamil Nadu until further arrangements are made.
Additionally, Kavinder Gupta, who has been serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, has been appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
The appointments are expected to come into effect once the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices.
