The Election Commission is holding a press conference to announce the Bihar Elections date. The polls will have a different standard operating procedure (SOP) because of the pandemic.

The vote casting time has been extended by one hour, in order to avoid congestion at the polling stations.

“To further decongest polling stations and allow more free movement of voters, polling time has been increased by 1 hour. It’ll be held from 7 am-6 pm, instead of 7 am-5 pm earlier. However, this will not be applicable to Left-wing affected areas,” CEC Sunil Arora said, addressing the press conference.

The quarantined COVID-19 patients will be able to cast their vote as a period of time has been reserved for them, under the supervision of health authorities.

The term of the Nitish Kumar led government comes to an end on November 29. He leads a coalition with the BJP.
