Geert Wilders, the far-right and the firebrand politician who won the Dutch Elections, is set to become the new Prime Minister of the Netherlands. The results on Wednesday showed that Wilder’s PVV (Freedom Party) won 35 seats in parliament, leaving left-wing bloc with 25 seats and Centre-right party VDD on 24. The elections shook the Dutch and Europe with its catastrophic results.
Who is Geert Wilders?
Geert Wilders is a Dutch politician who has led the Party for Freedom since he founded it in 2006. He is also the party’s leader in the House of Representatives, having held a parliamentary seat since 1998.
Wilders was earlier in the news, too, when he claimed to ban all mosques from the Netherlands. He even claimed to ban Quran in the country.
Wilders also supported former BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who was alleged for hurting religious’ sentiments of Islamic people in a TV debate over making remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
