In a shocking turn of events, Bihar Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a rather dramatic outcome over the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill 2021. Reflecting upon the same, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav expressed his concerns about the new bill and spoke about the high-octane drama that occurred at the assembly.
“We wanted to speak but we were thrashed. This law means that search will be conducted without warrant & “any policemen can arrest if he believes something is wrong”. No use of courts & magistrate,” RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav after uproar in Assembly over Bihar Special Armed Police Bill, reported the news agency ANI.
The police bill reportedly aims at giving more power to the police force that was introduced by Nitish Kumar’s government. Minister Bijendra Yadav presented the bill for debate which saw the opposition members gather in the well of the House where marshals rushed to prevent the agitated legislators from getting physical with those in the treasury benches.
Opposition MLAs have also alleged that they were manhandled by the personnel present in the Assembly. MLA Satyendra Kumar claimed, “The SP has hit me on my chest. This is the murder of democracy,” reported Times Now.
The recent reports also suggest that Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav has been taken into custody and his brother Tej Pratap following agression by party workers. The protest was led by Tejasvi Yadav along with his elder brother – Tej Pratap who was arrested at Patna’s Dak Bungalow Chowk.
