The former chief minister and the president of Telugu Desam Party, N. On 8th September, at midnight, the police started withdrawing heavy police forces from Kurnool, Nandyal, and Anantpur districts.

As per the notice issued, the arrest was effected in connection with Crime No. 29/2021 under section 120(B) 166, 167, 41b, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 r/w 34 and 37 of the IPC; and Sec 12, 13(2) r/w 13 (1) and (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1968. Before the formal arrest of the TDP president, he had a heated argument with the CID, asking on what grounds he had been arrested. The police stated that it is a non-bailable offence and must seek bail through court only. The police informed him they would submit the report about the arrest at the court.

The lawyers stated that Mr. Naidu’s health condition was not encouraging, and he was suffering from hypertension and a high sugar level. The lawyers said they would approach the court to take relevant actions on this. Moreover, the CID police planned to take Mr Naidu to Vijayawada by chopper but switched to the road route.
