Telangana: Rahul Gandhi attacks BRS, BJP over girl’s suicide case in Hyderabad

Congress has attacked BRS and BJP over the alleged suicide of a girl preparing for competitive exams in Telangana.

Hundreds of students protested in Ashok Nagar, Hyderabad after a girl named Pravalika committed suicide. The protesting students said that the girl committed suicide because she was preparing for government exams, but the government kept cancelling the exam. Troubled by this, the girl committed suicide.

Hurt by the girl’s suicide, thousands of students demonstrated against the government. Chikkadpally police registered an FIR on this matter on Friday (13 October 2023). BJP Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman was also present to participate in this anti-government protest. During this, he accused the Telangana government of playing with the future of children.

When angry students stopped the police from coming inside After the student’s suicide, many angry students blocked the road leading to the hostel. These students did not even allow the police, who arrived after receiving information about the suicide, to enter the area. Friends of the deceased girl told that when she went inside the hostel room, she was troubled by the problem of repeated cancellation of exams.

The students demanded that before the police take Pravallika’s body for postmortem, they should get an assurance from the government that the government will conduct their competitive exams on time. Leaders of opposition parties of Telangana also arrived to support the students’ demonstration. He said, the repeated cancellation and postponement of various government examinations has undoubtedly caused huge disappointment among the job aspirants.

Over the young girl’s suicide case, the Telangana BJP said: “Now the time has come that Telangana government should stop running away from its responsibilities. The government elected by the people does not have the right to stop playing with the new children.”

Rahul Gandhi attacks BRS, BJP

Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the dead girl through a social media post. He blamed KCR for unemployment and attacked BJP. He announced the reorganization of TSPSC on the lines of UPSC and release of job calendar within a month of the formation of the Congress government.

Rahul Gandhi wrote on X: “The news of suicide of a student in Hyderabad yesterday is extremely sad. This is not suicide, it is murder – of the dreams of the youth, their hopes and aspirations. The youth of Telangana today is completely devastated by unemployment. In the last 10 years, BJP Relative Committee – BRS and BJP together have ruined the state with their incompetence. The Congress government in Telangana will release job calendar, reorganize TSPSC on the lines of UPSC in 1 month and fill 2 lakh vacant government posts within a year – this is a guarantee.”

Even Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge attacked the state government led by BRS and said that thousands of young aspirants in Telangana are frustrated and enraged due to the rank apathy of the BRS Govt in conducting examinations.

On social media platform X, Kharge wrote: “Shocked and deeply anguished by the suicide of a 23-year-old girl student in Telangana, who reportedly took the drastic step to end her life due to repeated postponements and irregularities in the State Public Service Commission Exams. In this hour of grief and anger, our heart goes out to the family of Marri Pravallika. Thousands of young aspirants in Telangana are frustrated and enraged due to the rank apathy of the BRS Govt in conducting examinations. Youngsters of Telangana hold the corrupt, inept and inefficient BRS Govt accountable and will oust it from power in the state.”

The suicide case in the poll bound state Telangana has given BRS’s rivals Congress and BJP a chance to attack the government’s functioning over youth and employment.
