‘Stop politicising bureaucracy, armed forces’: Congress prez Kharge writes to PM Modi

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has alleged that the Modi government is using central agencies, institutions, army and other departments as their ‘official Pracharaks’.

Days after the BJP government at Centre announced the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has launched a fresh attack on the Modi government and has urged to stop the alleged politicisation of bureaucracy and armed forces. Kharge has alleged that the Modi government is using central agencies, institutions, army and other departments as their ‘official Pracharaks’.

In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Khagre said: “In both cases, of civil servants and soldiers, it is essential that government machinery is kept out of politics, especially so in the months leading up to an election. In addition to the Enforcement Directorate, the Income Tax Department and the CBI already acting as election departments of the BJ, the orders mentioned above put the entire government machinery to work as if they are agents of the ruling party. All agencies, institutions, arms, wings, and departments are now officially ‘Pracharaks.'”

On social media platform X, Congress president Kharge wrote: “For the Modi Govt, all agencies, institutions, arms, wings, and departments of the government are now officially ‘Pracharaks’ ! In view of protecting our democracy and our Constitution, it is imperative that the orders which would lead to the politicising of Bureaucracy and our Armed Forces must be withdrawn immediately. My letter to the Prime Minister -”

While talking to media, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on this issue: “Modi government is always engaged only in publicity. Now an order has been issued that officers will become “rath in-charges” for the promotion of their government and will take out the government’s Rath Yatra. We have written a letter to PM Modi and urged him to withdraw such order immediately.”

Kharge also mentioned that the letter issued on October 18, in the very first point, it is written on the subject of the deployment of senior officers of high ranks as “Rath Prabharis” to showcase the achievement of the BJP government in 9 years.
