Rajasthan Congress waiting for go-ahead to expand its cabinet

Sources further revealed that in the yesterday’s meeting which lasted till 2:30 am, the two leaders discussed regarding the MLAs from Sachin Pilot’s camp in the state cabinet and emphasized on performance based evaluation of the members.

Amidst the speculations of cabinet reshuffle in Rajasthan, Senior Congress leaders Ajay Maken and KC Venugopal were scheduled to attain an important legislative party meeting on Sunday.

The meeting follows after Maken and Venugopal met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over dinner on Saturday. As per sources cited by ‘News18’, on Saturday the Chief Minister along with Maken and Venugopal discussed on the Cabinet reshuffle.

Sources further revealed that in the yesterday’s meeting which lasted till 2:30 am, the two leaders discussed regarding the MLAs from Sachin Pilot’s camp in the state cabinet and emphasized on performance based evaluation of the members.

The two congress leaders are likely to give final touches to the cabinet reshuffle, appointment of district president’s of the party along with other political appointments.

The Sources added that some ministers might have to loose their chair in the cabinet membership. Reportedly, the chief minister has left the decision of cabinet reshuffle to the central leadership who will take the final call on the matter.

According to reports, state education minister and state president Govind Singh Dotasra might have to loose their chair. However, Dotasra asserted that the meeting has been called to welcome Ajay Maken and KC Venugopal.

Sources affirmed that if a consensus is achieved, a decision over the cabinet expansion could be taken. Reports suggest, the reshuffle is likely to take place between July 27- 28.

Earlier, in the month of June, Pilot together with other MLAs had initiated an open rebellion against Gehlot. Following the month long crisis, the congress top brass formed a committee to review the issues raised by Pilot. He alleged that his camp was being sidelined by the Gehlot government.

Earlier in this week, Pilot informed to the reporters that he was in connection with the Congress high command to solve the issues raised by him. He added, “AICC is taking steps for the betterment of the government and party organization.”

He stated that the party workers who have contributed so much to the congress should receive ‘political reward in proportion to their efforts.” Furthermore, he added, “It is not about any post or position. We want to expand the Congress family, new people should be associated.”
