Pune: Kedar and Pawar park cars on tracks inside Stadium, will provide funds for the damage

BJP said that it was an insult to the athletes and it has resulted in damaging the race tracks for which the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders shall apologise.

On Sunday, the race track at the Shri Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, at Balewadi in Pune, was reportedly damaged after multiple vehicles of VIP’s were parked there, including Sharad Pawar’s, the NCP Supremo.

The track had been laid out during the Commonwealth Youth Games and was used by the athletes for training.

Sunil Kedar, the state Sports Minister, Aditi Tatkare, Minister of State and other senior officials of the Sports and Youth Affairs department had attention the meeting which was called on Sunday to take stock of the progress of the under-construction International Sports University.

The procession of the senior ministers and the officials were parked inside of the stadium on the race track.

Sunil Kedar said that the matter was an oversight on their part and he mentioned that due to his age, Pawar Saheb had difficulty in climbing the stairs, therefore his car was allowed inside of the stadium. He added that the entering and parking of the other cars on the track was an oversight on their part.

Mr. Kedar added to say that the track was already worn out and the department had started the process of relaying it, and they will sanction funds necessary at the earliest and lay another international-level track.
