On Wednesday, former Congress President and CPP Chairman Sonia Gandhi released a video message for Mizoram and urged voters to vote for Congress party in the upcoming state assembly elections. In a 3 minute 31 seconds video, Sonia Gandhi says “this is not the time to experiment with BJP proxies ZPM and MNF.”
With the approaching assembly elections in 5 states, official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Congress shared a video in which Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party, Sonia Gandhi and wrote: “Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party, Smt. Sonia Gandhi makes a personal appeal to our brothers and sisters in Mizoram to vote for the Indian National Congress. She asserts this is not the time to experiment with BJP proxies ZPM and MNF. Mizoram must vote for peace in the region and to protect Article 371G of our Constitution.”

Sonia also attacked BJP government and PM’s alleged silence on Manipur violence, “Today Democracy is under threat from the BJP and RSS in Mizoram, North-East and across India. They value neither diversity nor democracy nor dialogue. They want to impose uniformity across India in parliament the BJP Forces laws which weaken the rise of tribal to their land and forest and doesn’t even allow the Mizoram member in parliament to speak,” added Gandhi.
Stating out the party’s work in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, she said: “Only the Congress party can guarantee the development in Mizoram, empowerment for it is people and protection for the weakest in the society.”
She appealed to the people of Mizoram “I make a personal appeal specially to the youth of Mizoram, women of Mizoram this not the time for experiment please vote for Congress party in hands of experience in hands of security.”
The 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2023 and counting will be held on December 3, 2023.
