Mayawati said BSP to stand alone in UP and Uttarakhand polls

Ms Mayawati said earlier this month that Akhilesh Yadav was getting expelled and ineffective leaders from other parties to join his party after five MLA’s suspended by the BSP in the previous year met the Samajwadi Party chief.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati tweeted earlier this morning that the BSP would go solo in the state polls of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand which would be held next year, denying the media reports of the plans to tie up with Asaduddin Owaisi led AIMIM in the state.

Mayawati said that the part had only planned on announcing a political tie up with Shiromani Akali Dal for the Punjab polls which would also be held next year. Both of the parties had also finalised the seat sharing agreement in the 117 member assembly, where the SAD contested for 97 seats and BSP for 20 seats.

Ms Mayawati in a tweet said that the news was being broadcasted in a media news channel since the previous day that the AIMIM and BSP would fight the upcoming assembly elections in UP together. She claimed that the news was ‘completely false’, ‘misleading’ and ‘baseless’ and that the BSP vehemently denies it. Mayawati added that in that regard it is again clarified that except Punjab, the BSP would not contest the UP and Uttarakhand state polls early next year in alliance with any party, which means that the BSP would go alone.

Ms Mayawati said earlier this month that Akhilesh Yadav was getting expelled and ineffective leaders from other parties to join his party after five MLA’s suspended by the BSP in the previous year met the Samajwadi Party chief.

Akhilesh Yadav in an interview said that his party would join forces with like-minded smaller parties and ruled out any tie-up for the UP elections to be held the next year.

He denied to the Bua-Bhatija repeat act after the 2019 alliance of Samajwadi Party with BSP had failed, although he admitted that a few of the BSP leaders were in touch with him.

Salman Khurshid, the Congress General Secretary in-charge of UP had said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was the captain in UP and would lead the party, he added that he hopes that she would take a decision and let them know.

BJP has started with the review meetings and appointments prior to the big election.  AK Sharma, former bureaucrat, had been made the BJP’s Vice President in Uttar Pradesh. Under the leader of Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister, and Swatantra Dev Singh as the state President, the BJP would contest in the UP elections.
