
On Thursday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed a Jan Aakrosh Rally in poll-bound Mandla, Madhya Pradesh where she made a series of attacks over present Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government led by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Priyanka Gandhi also announced a scheme for school-going students. She promised that students of class 1 to 8 will be given Rs 500 per month, students of class 9 to 10 will be given Rs 1000 per month and students of class 11-12 will be given Rs 1500 per month, if voted to power.
While attacking the ruling party BJP, Priyanka Gandhi accused the state government of making Madhya Pradesh top in brutality against tribal people and snatching rights from them. Priyanka Gandhi also raised the issue of women safety and said that Madhya Pradesh records 17 rape cases every day, and the state has the highest number of girls gone missing in the country.
Moreover, the Congress General Secretary also accused BJP of snatching rights from people that Congress party gave them during their tenure. She said, “To strengthen you, Congress brought MNREGA and Right to Food. Congress strengthened the Panchayat system. Whatever rights Congress gave you, the BJP government took them away one by one. The powers of Sarpanch were curtailed, MNREGA was not implemented, lands were taken away, fair prices for the produce were not given.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in her speech, also highlighted the alleged corruption in the Tendu Leaves Bonus in Madhya Pradesh. She said, “The brothers and sisters who pick Tendu leaves work hard all day, but they do not get the right price. Corruption has also taken place in Tendu Patta Bonus in Madhya Pradesh. You work hard and they earn. Whereas in Chhattisgarh, tendu leaf collectors are given Rs 4,000 per standard bag. Indira ji had started the work of giving bonus on Tendu Patta, because she felt that hardworking people should be helped.”

In the Jan Aakrosh Rally, Congress General Secretary was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath, who also addressed the rally in Mandla.
