Madhya Pradesh Election 2023: BJP fields Mukesh Tandon from Vidisha, Panna Lal Shakya from Guna

At Guna seat, BJP has shown its trust on Panna Lal Shakya, while the current sitting MLA on the seat Gopilal Jatav has not been repeated.

On Sunday, the ruling party in Madhya Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), announced two more candidates for the upcoming state assembly elections. In this list, the party has made candidates — Panna Lal Shakya from the important 29-Guna (SC) seat, while Mukesh Tandon from 144-Vidisha seat.

At Guna seat, BJP has shown its trust on Panna Lal Shakya, while the current sitting MLA on the seat Gopilal Jatav has not been repeated. Jatav won the Guna seat on BJP ticket in 2018 assembly elections with a margin of over 33,000 votes. However, the party is going with Panna Lal Shakya this time.

At Vidisha seat, the BJP is going again with Mukesh Tandon, who lost the elections in 2018 on BJP ticket. He was defeated by Congress candidate Shashank Shrikrishan Bhargava by a margin of over 15,000 votes. Irrespective of this, the party has again shown its trust on Mukesh Tandon from this seat.

Mukesh Tandon is also the state executive member of Bharatiya Janata Party Madhya Pradesh. He previously served as the Chairperson of Vidisha Municipal Corporation.

The 5.6 crore voters of Madhya Pradesh will vote from 230-member state assembly on November 17 (in a single phase), which will be followed by the counting of votes and declaration of results on December 3.
