‘Lost, but vote has not reduced’: Congress party after review meeting on Chhattisgarh poll defeat

The Congress party held a meeting to review the defeat in Chhattisgarh. Assembly elections were recently held in the state.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with senior leaders of Chhattisgarh on Friday and discussed the reasons for the defeat in the recent assembly elections. Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal, outgoing Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, state in-charge and General Secretary Kumari Selja, senior leader T S Singh Deo and many other leaders were present in this review meeting at the party headquarters. What decisions have been taken in this meeting has not been disclosed at this time.

Kumari Selja shared the picture of the meeting and posted on ‘X’, “Today a review meeting was held at the Congress headquarters in Delhi regarding the election results of Chhattisgarh.”

Later, while talking to the media, she said: “Today a review meeting related to the election results of Chhattisgarh was held, where everyone expressed their views. We lost the Chhattisgarh elections, but our vote percentage has not reduced. We have gained the trust of the public. We are disappointed, but not in despair. In the coming times, we will fight the Lok Sabha elections together.”

 

Let us tell you that in the recent elections, Congress has won 35 seats in the 90-member assembly of Chhattisgarh. Bharatiya Janata Party has returned to power in the state after five years by securing 54 seats. Before the elections it was claimed that a Congress government would be formed in the state. Exit polls also showed Congress forming the government but when the results came, it was in favour of BJP.
