Ex CM BS Yediyurappa’s son Vijayendra appointed as new Karnataka BJP chief

Vijayendra is the son of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. The former CM’s son currently represents Shikaripur assembly constituency of Karnataka and was also serving as party’s State Vice-President.

On Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President Jagat Prakash Nadda appointed Vijayendra Yediyurappa as the new State President of the party’s Karnataka unit. Vijayendra is the son of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. The former CM’s son currently represents Shikaripur assembly constituency of Karnataka and was also serving as party’s State Vice-President.

BJP’s move to make Vijayendra the new state president of Karnataka can be seen as a part of strategy before 2024 general assembly elections. The party looks to unite party’s cadre made by former CM BS Yediyurappa.

After being appointed as the party’s State President, Vijayendra wrote on social media platform X, “I express my deepest gratitude & sincerest thanks to @BJP4India National President Shri @JPNadda ji, Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji & National General Secretary(Org) @blsanthosh ji for reposing faith in me to serve as State President of @BJP4Karnataka.”

“As a humble karyakartha, I am deeply honoured to serve the party with utmost dedication & commitment. It’s the blessings of our beloved people, karyakarthas & our great leaders, that will act as my guiding force in this new role,” he added.

“I consider this as a divine opportunity to work with our beloved Karyakarthas under the able guidance of Senior Leaders in building a strong organizational foundation that envisages the Nationalistic ideals and principles of our Party and its great founders,” he further added.

Now, congratulating Vijayendra, BJP MP Tejaswi Surya wrote: “Hearty congratulations to Shri @BYVijayendra Anna who has been appointed as the state president of BJP Karnataka unit. It is certain that under his organizational acumen & leadership, the BJP party will become stronger and voice the aspirations of the people of the state. @BJP4Karnataka.”

Well, in the last assembly elections held in Karnataka, BJP faced a major defeat by Congress, who managed to win a clear majority.
