‘BJP’s excusing on caste-census’: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addresses rally in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh

Priyanka Gandhi also replied to BJP’s allegation of “family politics” against the Congress party. She narrated the story when the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated.

On Monday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed an election rally in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh over upcoming assembly election in the state. During this, she attacked the BJP over a number of issues, including the caste-based census. “BJP says that we will advance the OBC category, but as soon as we talked about caste census, BJP’s excuses started and the speaking stopped,” said Priyanka Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi also lashed out at BJP over women’s reservation issue and said that BJP is only doing publicity and ‘eventbaazi’ on the Womens’ Reservation Bill 2023. “The Congress government gave 33% reservation to women in Panchayats. Women’s Reservation Bill was passed, but women will not get their rights for 10 years. But there was a lot of discussion in the media and events; Therefore, check the truth of the leaders’ announcement,” said Priyanka Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi also replied to BJP’s allegation of “family politics” against the Congress party. She narrated the story when the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated.

“When Indira ji was shot, both of us brothers and sisters were in school. Father was on Bengal tour, mother was in the hospital. After 7 years, the same thing happened with my father, but my faith and patriotism in this country did not diminish,” said Priyanka Gandhi.

“When we talk about our generations, those who criticize us talk about nepotism. This is not familism, this is a devotion towards the country – which cannot be broken,” added Priyanka Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi was in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, but she also attacked the BJP government in the neighbouring state Madhya Pradesh, where the state government has announced a number of schemes for women recently.

“There is BJP government in Madhya Pradesh for 18 years. The BJP government has not thought of helping women in 18 years. Now the scheme was started two months before the elections and money is being given to women,” said Priyanka Gandhi.
