Sayan Deb Chatterjee, State Secretary-West Bengal Trinamool Youth Congress (WBTMYC) on Sunday issued a statement over the reports of celebrations being held at Kalighat, Kolkata as the TMC leads by 202 seats.
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Chatterjee claimed that an anti-campaign was being held against TMC and the party members did not want to celebrate. He clarified that the workers were under pressure and the celebrations have given them energy.
He also pointed out that they are still telling the party members not to celebrate due to the COVID situation.
“We really don’t want to celebrate but there was an anti-campaign against TMC. Our workers were under pressure. This mandate has given them energy. Still, we’re telling them not to celebrate due to COVID situation”, State Secretary of the West Bengal Trinamool Youth Congress, Sayan Deb Chatterjee told ANI.

The recent update comes after videos of TMC workers celebrating over the party’s lead went viral on social media.
The West Bengal police personnel, following the EC’s direction, immediately instructed the TMC supporters to brush aside victory celebrations. In addition, a ban has already been put on victory rallies/celebrations, in view of the surging rates of Covid-19.
