As the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, on Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party’s MLA, Pushkar Singh Dhami, took oath at the oath-taking ceremony in Raj Bhawan at Dehradun amid rainfall.
In the new State Cabinet, other Members of the Legislative Assembly belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party also took oath as ministers including Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat, Bansidhar Bhagat, and Yashpal Arya.
As a new leader, the two-time Member of the Legislative Assembly, Pushkar Singh Dhami was unanimously elected by the Uttarakhand Bhartiya Janata Party on Saturday paving the way for him to take over as the 11th chief minister of the state, thereby replacing Tirath Singh Rawat who had resigned citing constitutional factors on Friday night.
A bouquet was offered to Satpal Maharaj at his residence in Dalanwala by Dhami earlier today. The 45-year-old is now the youngest chief minister of the state.
Some members of the Legislative Assembly including Bishan Singh Chufal, Yashpal Arya along Subodh Uniyal are said to be “not happy” with the decision to appoint Dhami as the Chief Minister.
Earlier it was mentioned by the sources that all ministers are likely to retain their cabinet berths, the entire cabinet shall be taking an oath on Sunday evening at Raj Bhavan. With regards to those unhappy with Pushkar’s elections, the Union home minister Amit Shah also conversed with senior ministers.
While all efforts were being made by the party to pacify those MLA’s in previous CM Tirath Singh Rawat’s cabinet amid reports which claim that the resentment in the state unit has been fueled by the selection of Pushkar for the top role.
