PM Modi, Vice President and others wish President Kovind on his 75th birthday

As President of India Ram Nath Kovind turns 75 today, many leaders took to Twitter to extend greetings on his birthday.

The 14th president of India Ram Nath Kovind is celebrating his 75th birthday today. Born on October 1, 1945, in a small village Paraunkh in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district, Kovind became the second Dalit President of the country after he was sworn in on July 25, 2017. 

Many leaders and politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, extended their greetings to the President on his birthday and others followed as wishes poured in on Twitter.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted his greetings for the day to the President, praising his commitment to the poor and marginalised sections of society.

“Birthday greetings to Rashtrapati Ji. Due to his humble personality, he has endeared himself to the entire nation. His focus on empowering the poor and marginalised sections of society is exemplary. May he lead a long and healthy life,” PM Modi tweeted.

Vice President Naidu also extended his regards to the President, commending his simplicity and high ethics.

He wrote, “My Heartiest greetings to Hon’ble President of India, Ram Nath Kovind Ji on his birthday today. He is known for his simplicity, high ethics and remarkable vision. May he be blessed with good health, happiness and many more years in the service of the nation.” 

Other prominent leaders to wish Kovind on his birthday include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who tweeted his greetings in Hindi, asserting that the President’s dedication towards the upliftment of the poor and underprivileged sections of the society is a source of motivation for all.

The Union Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh also tweeted about the occasion, stating that the President is “admired by everyone for his wisdom, intellect and contributions to public life.”
