New Delhi, Sept 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive 20-point proposal to end the ongoing war in Gaza, calling it a “viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security and development” in West Asia.
In a post on X, Modi said the plan provides a practical roadmap not only for the Palestinian and Israeli people but also for the stability of the wider region. “We hope that all relevant parties will rally around President Trump’s initiative and support the effort to end the conflict and ensure peace,” he stated.
On Monday, the White House released the peace framework following President Trump’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of hostages for prisoners, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas disarmament, and a transitional government under an international body.
Trump, speaking alongside Netanyahu, described the agreement as being “beyond very close” but cautioned that Israel would have “full US support” if Hamas rejected the initiative. The proposal marks Netanyahu’s fourth White House visit since Trump took office earlier this year.
The announcement is seen as Washington’s most ambitious push yet to end the conflict, which has dragged on despite repeated calls for de-escalation.
