On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina jointly inaugurated three Indian-assisted development projects through video conferencing. While this, PM Modi said that India is working with “neighbourhood first policy” and these projects will further strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Which are the 3 projects?

The three projects are Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line and Unit-II of Maitri Super Thermal Power Plant in Rampal, Bangladesh. At the inauguration of three development projects between India and Bangladesh, PM Sheikh Hasina said,”I express my gratitude for your commitment to strengthen the bonds of friendship between our two countries”.

“Bangladesh’s largest development partner is India”

While addressing the development projects using video conferencing, PM Modi said: “We have considered our approach of Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas to be relevant even for our closest neighboring friend like Bangladesh. We feel proud to be Bangladesh’s largest development partner.”

“In the last 9 years, approximately $10 billion has been provided for development work in various sectors. The three projects that have been inaugurated today were decided by us, and we have had the privilege of dedicating them to the people,” said PM Modi.

Highlighting the relations between the two countries, PM Modi said: “India-Bangladesh relationship is continually reaching new heights. In the past 9 years, we have achieved what people couldn’t in decades. To fulfill the aspirations of both countries, we have put in extra efforts in infrastructure and connectivity.”
