Kolhapur, May 20 : Maha Vikas Aghadi’s Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Saturday created a new controversy by saying that NCP has now become bigger than their ally Congress in the state.

He made this statement while addressing a rally of the party workers here this evening.

With this statement, he has stirred up a hornet’s nest, leading to a potential difficulty in seat-sharing adjustment in Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance partners for coming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

He further said that NCP MLA Rohit Pawar worked as per his suggestions in Karjat and Jamkhed constituencies, which were wrested by NCP from the Congress party.

He also said that since NCP chief Sharad Pawar withdrew his resignation as party president, all party workers should work hard and show their strength in coming elections, including local institutions, assembly and Lok Sabha, in the state.

Pawar appealed to party workers to take the party’s campaign across the state.

“Since our party runs on thoughts of ‘Mahapurush’ (Sharad Pawar) and this district was close to NCP chief, the party workers should work tirelessly,” he asserted.

Criticising state Chief Minister Eknath Shide, the Opposition leader said that Shide keeps telling that his government was of ordinary people’s but first, he should tell what he (Shinde) had done for the ordinary people, he said.

Continuing his attack on the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP leaders, he accused them of making objectionable statements against the ‘Mahapurush’ as they have arrogance of power.

He blamed the state government for postponing the local bodies elections and charged that the government has been negligent towards pressing issues of inflation and unemployment in the state.
