Lok Sabha adjourned amid Opposition’s uproar on Adani issue

The Lower House of the Parliament, the Lok Sabha was adjourned today for the day after the Opposition created ruckus over the Adani issue.

New Delhi, Apr 5: Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Wednesday amid Opposition ruckus over the Adani issue.

The Lower House was adjourned shortly after it resumed at 1400 hours.

As soon as the Presiding Officer Rama Devi resumed the proceedings of the House, members of the Opposition holding placards trooped into the and shouted slogans demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Hindenburg Research report over Adani Group.

The Hindenburg Research report alleged the Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over the course of decades.

The Presiding Officer got important papers laid on the Table of the House, and The Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was also introduced, before she adjourned the Lower House till 1100 hours on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Presiding Officer Rajendra Agrawal adjourned the House till 1400 hours, within a minute after it assembled for the day’s proceedings amid pandemonium by the Opposition members.

Agrawal disapproved the conduct of the Opposition members and said , “Question Hour is always very important. Please go back to your seat.”
Several Opposition parties have been demanding a JPC probe into the Hindenburg Research report over Adani Group.
