The announcement comes after the decreased cases of COVID-19 recorded in the state. While addressing the citizens of Maharashtra on Facebook, he said, “Mumbai has 19 lakh people who have taken both their doses. They will be allowed to travel by registering themselves through an app.”
The CM also said that those who do not have smartphones can ask for photo passes from municipal ward offices in the city and suburban railway stations. “Unless the vaccination is completed, we will have to tread very cautiously”, Thackeray continued.
Furthermore, he reminded the citizens that the COVID-19 pandemic was not over yet while asking them to follow the necessary protocols. Thackeray added, “We have a capacity to vaccinate up to 15 lakh per day. We have already vaccinated up to 8 lakh people on a single day.”
On Saturday, the CM had assured that the government was planning to bring in more relaxations in the current coronavirus-led curbs.
In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra recorded a total of fresh 5,508 infections of coronavirus along with 4,895 patients recovering from the virus and 151 fatalities.
