A lightning incident on Sunday, claimed lives of around 68 people across the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Reportedly, the death toll in Uttar Pradesh due to the incident escalated to 41 on Monday. While in Madhya Pradesh, 7 people are reported to be dead.
In Rajasthan, the lightning strikes took away lives of nearly 20 people. Among them, seven children belonged from Kota and Dholpur districts. More than 10 people are reported to be injured.
UP’s Death Toll escalates to 41
Altogether 41 people died in lightning strikes across Uttar Pradesh, as per preliminary information.
Few areas of UP’s Prayagraj received heavy rainfall. 14 people in Prayagraj died after being struck by lightening. Nearly 15 people died in Kanpur, Dehat and Fatehpur. Three people lost their lives in Firozabad and other three in Unnao, Hamirpur and Sonbhadra. Two died in Kanpur Nagar while one each in Pratapgarh, Hardoi and Mirzapur.
Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh ordered the officials to facilitate immediate assistance.
20 dead and nearly 10 injured in Rajasthan
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the death of people in several parts of Rajasthan. As per reports, more than 10 people survived with injuries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted in Hindi, translated by India Today as “Many people lost their lives due to lightning in some areas of Rajasthan. This is very saddening. I express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.”

Among the 20 deceased people, 11 belonged from Jaipur, three from Dholpur, four from Kota, one from Jhalwar and one from Baran.
According to reports, 17 people suffered from injuries on Sunday. The injured were rescued by joint teams of the police and the state Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Following which they were taken to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.
Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan declared a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for every family members of the deceased.
In this 5 lakh, 4 lakh will be given from emergency relief fund and 1 lakh from the Chief Minister Relief Fund.
India Today noted, 11 people were killed in Jaipur Amer area when sky lightning struck the watch tower twice within a span of less than 40 min on Sunday.
Beside, CM Gehlot, former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and former CM Vasundhara expressed their condolence on the deceased.
Lightning claims lives of 7 people in Madhya Pradesh
In different district of Madhya Pradesh, seven people were killed due to the lightning incident. Among these deceased, two people are from Sheopur district, two from Gwalior district and one each from Shivpur, Anuppur and Betul districts.
