London: The entire population of the United Kingdom has now become a part of a gargantuan, high-risk experiment. It has now begun the testing of several different vaccines being a country with one of the world’s worst COVID-19 outbreaks, while several cases with the new variant of the virus, which is more contagious and possibly more deadly, have now been reported.
Although Britain’s supply of vaccines is nothing but healthy as compared to most of the countries, it is now in process of conducting a high-risk experiment by trying to stretch the interval between two customary doses required to build an immunity against the virus.
As this decision takes place, Britain is also attempting to figure out how strict and lengthy must a new lockdown be so that the new strain of the virus can be prevented from spreading. The variant now dominant here has been found in at least 50 other countries.
As of January 26, more than 6.8 million people in the United Kingdom have been administered with the first of the two doses of the vaccines plus the 4.72 lakh people who have now also received the second booster shot of the dose.
Britain is arguably the worst-hit country as of now with having surpassed 1 lakh deaths and still recording the highest number of deaths everyday on the whole planet. |
Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom commented on the very bad situation in his country and took full responsibility saying, “I’m deeply sorry for every life that has been lost, and, of course, as prime minister, I take full responsibility for everything the government has done. What I can tell you is that we truly did everything we could and continue to do everything that we can.”
