Colombo, April 13: Amid unending anti-government protests in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday pledged to discuss with demonstrators the unprecedented economic crisis which has plagued the country. Colombo Page quoted the Prime Minister as saying that he was ready for a discussion with the protestors. Massed at Colombo’s Galle Face Green promenade to find a quick solution to the crisis.

The invitation by Mahinda Rajapaksa on the occasion of Sinhala and Tamil New Year comes as tens of thousands of Sri Lankans, most the young, have been protesting for days against the government, blaming it for creating crippling shortages. The protesters want President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his brother and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to resign. According to Colombo Page, the protests at Galle Face Green. And in front of the Presidential Secretariat entered the fifth day. The protesters have named the agitation site near the Presidential Secretariat as “Gota Go Gama” (Gota Go Village).
