Russia’s special forces unable to contact Indians in NE Ukraine: Russian envoy

In respect of the evacuation of Indians from war zones in Ukraine, Alpov said that hundreds of Russian buses were continuing to take them out.

Russian ambassador to India Denis Alpov on Saturday announced that his nation was concentrating on Indians in northeast Ukraine, but incapable to do much due to continuous war in those regions.

Addressing the media, Alpov further announced the Kremlin’s dispute with Ukraine will have effects for the whole world, involving Russia’s ties with India. “To what extent, it’ll be expressed, cannot say now. There may be an impact in terms of commerce, chances of financial cooperation in relation with sanctions,” the envoy was quoted as by news agency ANI.

In respect of the evacuation of Indians from war zones in Ukraine, Alpov announced hundreds of Russian buses were continuing to take them out, but forces were incapable to reach them.

“Focus (is) on Indians in northeast Ukraine. Our special organizations that will take Indians to Russian territory are not able to enter Indians due to battling in those regions. Forces are not able to reach Indians. No way to snatch them up. Have to meet at places not under strike,” the envoy was cited as telling by news agency ANI.

He told a group of diplomats has been carried to Belgorod from the Indian embassy to handle with this problem on the spot and adjust with the Russian side.

“The question is to assure the security of citizens as the Russian side does not have access to these regions. Our buses are packed to these places but not there. We have to secure safe passage of Indians,” he added.

Earlier in the day, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) announced an argument urging students in war-hit Ukraine to take protection precautions and stay inside shelters. The MEA told the government was strongly pressing Russian and Ukrainian governments through numerous channels for an instantaneous ceasefire to build a safe corridor.
