Islamabad, April 21: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday directed the authorities to ensure foolproof security. For his predecessor Imran Khan after reports of threats to the latter’s life surfaced, The News reported. The directives were issued to the interior ministry to provide foolproof security for the former prime minister. PM Shehbaz Sharif directed Minister for Interior Rana Sanauallah Khan to personally monitor the security arrangements for the PTI chairman. In turn the interior minister has sent emergency letters to the home secretaries of all four provinces. Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the chief commissioner and Islamabad Police chief to ensure tight security of Imran Khan, who has been holding mega rallies across the country against his ouster and to rally support.
The interior ministry also directed officials to ensure measures like including a bomb disposal squad at Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence. Imran Khan, who on Thursday is scheduled to address a rally in Lahore, received two security alerts ahead of the event. Meanwhile, the district administration advised the former prime minister to use a bulletproof vehicle. With a sunroof and windows shut to move to and from the venue of the rally. Which will be held at Minar-e-Pakistan. The deputy commissioner even advised Khan not to visit Minar-e-Pakistan. And address the public meeting over the phone, and if he does.
