Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting Tesla CEO and Billionaire Elon Musk during his US visit this week.
Prime Minister Modi departed for New York in the early morning of Tuesday where he will be addressing the United Nations Assembly on the occasion of World Yoga Day tomorrow. Prime Minister will also be addressing the joint session of the United States Congress in Capitol Hill, Washington DC and his American counterpart President Joe Biden will be hosting Prime Minister Modi for a ceremonial dinner at the White House.
Prime Minister is expected to meet Tesla CEO Elon Musk on June 23. He will be Guest of Honor at a luncheon hosted by American Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Elon Musk’s meeting with Prime Minister Modi is seen as a essential step in the introduction of Tesla in the Indian Automobile Industry. Tesla has been considering to increase its sourcing form India and is in plans to set up manufacturing plant for Tesla vehicles in the country in near future.
Tesla officials have held a bilateral talk with Indian Government officials in the run-up to Prime Minister’s visit to the United States. It will also be the first meeting between both Musk and PM Modi since Musk brought Micro-Blogging site Twitter, which was surrounded in its fair share of controversies with the Indian Government recently.
Along with Elon Musk, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to meet around 24 other people including Nobel laureates, economists, scientists, artists, scholars, entrepreneurs, health sector experts and more.
