Three scientists have been awarded with the Nobel Prize 2020 in the Physics category for their work on the Theory of Black Holes.

Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez were announced as this year’s winners at a news conference in Stockholm.

David Haviland, said this year’s award “celebrates one of the most exotic objects in the Universe”.

The Black Hole Theory which is that “gravity is very strong that not even light but electromagnetic radiation cannot escape from this space region”. This phenomenon is called the event horizon.

“Einstein’s general relativity, we had the tools to describe these objects for real” said by Ulf Danielsson, a member of the Nobel Committee.

Sir Roger, said “laid the theoretical foundations to say, these objects exist. You can expect to find them if you go out and look them”.

“I’m thrilled to receive the prize bond and I take very seriously the responsibility of being the fourth woman to win the Nobel prize” said by Prof Ghez, University of California.

About the Black holes theory:

The Black hole is one of the space regions which consists of very strong gravity and it is not light but electromagnetic can not be pass.

Its look like a black body which doesn’t reflect any Ray’s or light rays it’s having 100% absorbing capacity no reflection and refraction capacity.
The boundary of this region called event horizon.

“On the black body the temperature is inversely proportional to its mass” this concept is applicable.

It was the first time considering that in the 18th century by John Michell and Pierre-Simon Laplace.

In 11 December 2018, it was observed that it originated out of 10 merging black holes, with the help of gravitational waves.

There three scientists who won The Nobel prize are following:

1.Sir Roger Penrose

Sir Roger Penrose is an English mathematician and philosopher of science and professor at the University of Oxford

He is also known for the Moore–Penrose pseudoinverse, Twistor theory & spin network and won many awards likes
The Adams Prize (1966), Heineman Prize (1971) & Fellow of the Royal Society (1972).

2.Reinhard Genzel.

Reinhard Genzel is a German astrophysicist also known for Submillimetre astronomy and infrared.

He was awarded with the Balzan Prize (2003), Crafoord Prize (2012), Otto Hahn Medal (1980) & Shaw Prize (2008).

3.Andrea Mia Ghez.

Andrea Mia Ghez is an American Astronomer and professor of physics at UCLA. She is also know for magazine listed article in the Top 20 scientists in the US.

She is has also been awarded with the Honorary doctorate of Science at University of Oxford in 2019 & Elected as the Legacy fellow of the American Astronomical Society in 2020.
