Recently, the Lebanese presidency announced the formation of a new government after distorting the 13-month long deadlock. This made the country undergo a deep financial tension in turn leading its citizens to a state of poverty, stated the report published by the Associated Press.
Lebanon’s political landscape faced a drawback after spending months without a full-fledged ruling government to look after the economic social, political, welfare and many other aspects. The inactive government came into being after the devastating explosion that took place at the Beirut port on August 4, 2020. This made the then Prime Minister Hassan Diab resign from his post and dissolve his government.
Catering to the economic clampdown, the opposite political groups have condemned the idea of the formation of a new government. This disagreement comes into the picture after the presidency decided to fill in the void.
On Friday, the latest government was formed with an announcement by the Lebanese Presidency. The government will be governed by Najib Mikati, a billionaire businessman. This was sanctioned by the office of President Michel Aoun, which said: the decree has been signed.
