Former US President Trump sets up a post-presidency office

Former US President Donald Trump set up an official “Office of the Former President” in Palm Beach County at his new base of Florida, to “carry on the agenda of the Trump administration”.

A statement was released by the said organization that gave a vague explanation about the functions of the post. It stated – “Today, the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump formally opened the Office of the Former President. The Office will be responsible for managing President Trump’s correspondence, public statements, appearances and official activities to advance the interests of the US and to carry the agenda of the Trump administration.”

“President Trump will always and forever be a champion for the American people,” it also added.

The Office is still in its formation works as it doesn’t seem to have set up an official website, phone number or social media accounts yet.

This update is received as an impeachment case was pushed against Trump to the Senate for the start of his trial after his remarks led to pro-Trump rioters storming the US Capitol building. It will take 67 votes in the 100-seat Senate to convict Trump on the impeachment charges. Trump is readying an impeachment defense team for next month’s Senate trial, though he has not commented on it publicly.
