According to official sources, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rescuing 9 Bangladeshi people from Ukraine as part of ‘Operation Ganga,’ given the growing crisis between Ukraine and Russia.
According to media reports, some Nepalese and Tunisian students were also rescued through this mission. Earlier on 8th March, Bangladesh’s Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
Prime Minister Modi warmly remembered his March 2021 visit to Bangladesh. He wished Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina all the best. Major General (Retd) Siddique commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for boosting India-Bangladesh ties and standing with Bangladesh in times of crisis, like the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Prime Minister praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership in ensuring Bangladesh’s overall growth and pledged to work with her to further deepen India-Bangladesh ties.
With the final few batches of Indian nationals stranded in Ukrainian places like Sumy going home, Operation Ganga is nearing conclusion.
Approximately 18 thousand Indians have been evacuated from war-torn Ukraine as a result of special flights organised as part of Operation Ganga, which began on February 22, 2022. On Tuesday, two special civilian aircraft brought roughly 410 Indians to India from Ukraine’s bordering nations.
