India gets first website with a Hindi domain name – ‘मेरा.भारत’

Vinay Murarka, a technology entrepreneur has been successful in his initiative of launching India’s first and only completely Hindi website; ‘completely’ being the keyword here since the website’s domain name is also in Hindi!

Murarka has been appreciated for his effort of designing the all-Hindi website “https://मेरा.भारत“, which presents not only its content but also its domain name in the Devanagari script.

Murarka said that the inspiration for such a website was derived from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote the national language. Talking about this, he said, “The USP of this website is its domain name. No other Indian website has a Hindi domain yet. The aim behind creating a website like this was to promote India’s national language Hindi and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Vocal for Local’.”

The website consists of a wide range of news-related content covering areas like tour and travel, history, religion, states and policies. “मेरा.भारत” is not Vinay Murarka’s project; he is also associated with Laughing Colours, TaxGuru, Business Upturn & many other organisations. He is one of the members of the ICANN NBG Panel from India.

He is also the manager of a website called ‘’, which offers people the service of being able to book domain names in local languages like Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Odia, Tamil, and many more. Accredited with the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), ‘’ is a licensed registrar for ‘.in’ and ‘.भारत’ domains.
