Former Rajya Sabha member and journalist Chandan Mitra dies at 66

Chandan Mitra was also the managing director of The Pioneer which is located in Delhi. The former individual had a wife and two sons.

On Wednesday night, the former member of Rajya Sabha and also a journalist Chandan Mitra dies at 66. The demise of the former was announced by his son Kushan Mitra to a news agency. The son started to the media that it is already out there, and his father passed away last night as he was suffering for a long time.

At this event, Narendra Modi Ji the PMO of India took to his Twitter account tweeted that the former MP would always be remembered and said he was a distinguished authority in the world of media and politics and further offered condolences to his family.

Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta also tweeted on his Twitter account by saying that “I lost my closest friend—editor of Pioneer & former MP Chandan Mitra—this morning. We were together as students of La Martiniere & went on to St Stephen’s & Oxford. We joined journalism at the same time & shared the excitement of Ayodhya & the saffron wave.”

Chandan Mitra was also the managing director of The Pioneer which is located in Delhi. The former individual had a wife and two sons. Mitra began his political career in the year 2003 when was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 2010 he was again elected for a second tenure of Rajya Sabah as BJP MP from the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also paid his tributes by saying “Deeply saddened by this news. Chandan was my campaign manager in my successful race to be President of the St Stephen’s College Union Society, served in my Cabinet and succeeded me. We remained in touch over the years, ironically till I returned to Delhi& politics separated us. RIP,” Tharoor tweeted.
