Former Commerce Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam has been appointed CEO of NITI Aayog

Former Niti Aayog CEO Parameshwaran Iyer has been appointed as World Bank Executive Director for a two-year term.

On February 20, the Cabinet Appointments Committee announced the appointment of former Commerce Secretary BVR Subhramanyam as the next Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog.

Moreover, Parameshwaran Iyer, the former CEO of the government’s think tank, has been named as the World Bank’s Executive Director for a two-year term.

Subrahmanyam is a Chhattisgarh cadre IAS officer from the 1987 batch who was deputed to Jammu and Kashmir in June 2018. With Anup Wadhawan’s retirement on June 30, he was appointed as the Government of India’s Commerce Secretary in May 2021.

As the state was divided into two Union Territories in 2019, he served as Chief Secretary. He has extensive bureaucratic expertise, having served as Joint Secretary in Manmohan Singh’s Prime Minister’s Office.
