Farmers Protest: Akhilesh Yadav taken into police custody for violating section 144

On December 7, according to The Time of India, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav was taken into police custody for violating section 144.

The Time of India reported in a series of tweets that Samajwadi MLA Amitabh Bajpai along with party leaders are put under house arrest for planning ‘Kisan Yatra’ from Ganga Barrage from Monday afternoon.

Additionally, this yatra was planned by the local SP leader to express solidarity with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. SP chief hinted at travelling to Kannauj for a tractor rally as part of the ‘Kisan Yatra’ to show support to farmers in the outskirts of Delhi.

A huge deployment of the police force has been posted at the residences of MLA Amitabh Bajpai, former MLA Muneendra Shukla, and Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha leader Sarvesh Yadav.

Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Delhi-Haryana border, where thousands of farmers are protesting against the controversial farmer’s laws.

For 12 days, the farmers from various states, majorly from Punjab and Haryana are protesting against the farmer bills. The farmers are demanding the government to retract these laws and enable them to meet leaders responsible for introducing this bill.

Peaceful protests are underway at both the Singhu and Tikri borders.
