Sharmistha Mukherji, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday tweeted an emotional message on twitter praying for her father who is in a critical condition after undergoing brain surgery and is on the ventilator.
The 84-year old former president underwent brain surgery to remove a clot on Monday has not shown any signs of improvement according to a statement by the Army Research and Referral Hospital on Tuesday.
He had been tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the surgery and had shared the information himself on Twitter on Monday.
Doctors attending on him had said that his condition worsened on Tuesday.
In her tweet, the Congress leader remembers how, a year ago her father had received the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna but has fallen critically ill a year later. She also thanked all those who wished her father a speedy recovery and hoped that God would do whatever is best for him.

Soon after Mr. Mukherji’s hospitalization wishes had poured in for his early recovery.

Meanwhile, a 72-hour yajna was organized on Tuesday in Pranab Mukherjee’s ancestral place in West Bengal, according to reports from news agency PTI.
Pranab Mukherji had served as the president of India between 2012 and 2017 and received the Bharat Ratna on August 8, 2019.
