Bengaluru City Police on Friday issued a public warning advising citizens not to participate in or assemble for a proposed human chain event reportedly organised by a group identifying itself as the “Cockroach Janata Party.”
In an official advisory circulated through social media and local law enforcement channels, police authorities urged residents to avoid gathering at locations linked to the planned event, citing concerns related to public order, traffic disruption and security management.
“Do not assemble,” the police warning stated, cautioning citizens against joining unauthorised gatherings without prior administrative permission.
Officials said preventive security arrangements have been intensified across sensitive areas in Bengaluru ahead of the proposed event. Additional police personnel have reportedly been deployed to monitor public movement and prevent any disruption to normal civic activity.
Authorities have not yet disclosed detailed information regarding the organisers, scale or exact objectives of the human chain programme. However, police sources indicated that the gathering was being closely monitored after online calls for participation began circulating across digital platforms.
The advisory comes amid increasing scrutiny by law enforcement agencies over flash protests, viral mobilisation campaigns and public gatherings organised through social media without formal approval from civic authorities.
Police officials said any assembly held without necessary permissions could attract legal action under relevant public order and security provisions.
Bengaluru, one of India’s largest metropolitan cities and a major technology hub, has frequently witnessed heavy traffic congestion and security-related challenges during large-scale public demonstrations and political mobilisation events. Authorities often issue advance advisories to regulate crowd movement and prevent disruption to essential services.
Officials also appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and avoid spreading unverified information related to the proposed gathering.
The unusual name associated with the event quickly attracted attention online, leading to widespread discussion on social media platforms. However, police officials urged the public to remain cautious and prioritise safety and law-and-order guidelines issued by authorities.
No reports of violence or clashes had emerged till Friday evening, though police said surveillance and crowd-control measures would continue across identified locations.
Authorities have not ruled out further action depending on developments linked to the event and any potential violation of administrative directives.
Further details regarding the organisers and purpose of the proposed programme are expected to emerge as investigations and monitoring continue.
