Deoghar Airport row: Truth will come to the fore after a thorough probe, says Scindia

The two BJP leaders were detained on their way back to Delhi from a meeting with the family of a woman who had been set ablaze in Dumka, Jharkhand, by a man after she turned down his offer of marriage. Later, the woman died from burns.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, stated on Saturday that the truth will come to light following a thorough investigation into the Deoghar airport controversy in Jharkhand, in which nine people, including BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Manoj Tiwari, have been booked.

“The truth will come to the fore after a thorough probe. It will be shared with you all,” Scindia addressed the reporters here in reply to a question on the matter.

Nishikant Dubey and Manoj Tiwari, two members of the state’s legislative body in Jharkhand, were arrested on Saturday along with seven other people for allegedly coercing airport officials to allow their chartered jet to depart at night at Deoghar Airport. They have been the subject of a registered FIR.

The case was registered as a result of a complaint made by Suman Anan, the airport’s DSP. All of them, including the two BJP MPs and the airport director, have been charged with criminal trespass and endangering the lives or safety of others.

The Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey, his son Kanishk Kant Dubey, Mahikant Dubey, MP Manoj Tiwari, Mukesh Pathak, Devta Pandey, and Pintu Tiwari entered the high-security Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Deoghar airport without authorization on August 31, according to the FIR, and used their clout to persuade the officials to grant their chartered plane clearance.
