During the peak hours, personnel were directed on Tuesday by Delhi traffic police for focusing on dealing with traffic congestion. The traffic police personnel have been strictly warned by Muktesh Chander, the special commissioner of police, to adhere to their duties, failing which they might be sent to the police lines, according to a circular issued by Chander, as per a report released by News18.
It stated that while prosecuting traffic offenders, the congestion was not managed by the Delhi traffic police personnel even during busy peak hours and at congested junctions while they were found standing in a cluster far away from the spot.
The circular mentioned that senior officers must be present in the field during peak times and whenever there is traffic congestion as their focus must be to regulate traffic and manage congestion by manning junctions during peak hours.
The traffic congestion prone areas in the national capital include Peeragarhi Chowk, AIIMS, Kashmiri Gate, Sarai Kale Khan, Ashram Chowk, Mukarba Chowk, Azadpur, Karol bagh and the Lodhi Road flyover.
At several stretches in the national capital, heavy traffic snarls were reported due to rain on early Tuesday including at Delhi Cantonment, Azadpur, Dhaula Kuan, and Kalindi Kunj flyovers.
